It’s October 31st, and kids are getting ready to trick-or-treat in order to get as much candy as they can this year! Yes, some of them will be dressed up as ghouls and ghosts, and some won’t. The topic of participation in Halloween is debated among Christians. While I do not think either side should try to persuade the other side, I want you to know upfront that I do believe Halloween is a great opportunity for outreach in your community.
I would like to share with you what I am doing this year for Halloween. I’m doing something completely different this year.
I’m praying for the kids that are out trick-or-treating. I’m praying for the Christians that are looking for ways to build relationships and share about Christ. I’m praying for any church outreach events that are happening. I’m praying against Satan and his fallen angels, that they would continue to be defeated, and that tonight would be an especially victorious night for the eternal kingdom as more children and their families learn about Christ and enter into His family. I’m praying for every parent that gets the chance to talk to their children about fear, and how we do not need to fear when God is on our side. I’m praying for the safety of every child tonight. I’m praying for every Trunk-or-Treat event that is happening. I’m praying that new friendships would be formed between Christians and unbelievers. I’m praying for amazing things to happen in the lives of young Christians who are learning to share the gospel with their new friends.
Most importantly, I’m praying that God would be glorified in the way He deserves to tonight, just like every other day that has ever happened or will come. May His name be praised, His will be done, and more of His children enter into His family.
Unfortunately, I am not able to help out with any outreach events this year. Are you able to reach out to your community this year? If not, I am asking that you join me in prayer for those who are out sharing the gospel and building relationships.
If you are one of those Christians out there sharing Christ with others, keep going, be bold, build relationships, love others, tell them about Jesus, do not be ashamed, and most importantly, know this:
I am praying for you tonight.
